Small Change for Big Change!

It can be surprisingly easy to make one small change in your day, which can add up to a big pay-off in your wallet.

Take your daily coffee for example. If you treat yourself to a regular coffee from a coffee chain even once a week, at approximately $2 each, that’s $104 a year! Do you need that coffee every morning before work? 5 coffees a week is $520 over the course of a year! Make it yourself at home instead, and you’ll keep the bulk of that money in your pocket. Grab an inexpensive coffee machine and one of the coffee deals we find and share, and keep the vast majority of that money in your own pocket. Cha-ching!

The same goes for buying a lunch instead of bringing one from home. If you spend even $3 a day on food away from home, that’s $15 a week. Over the course of a year, that’s $750! If you just pack snacks or meals to bring with you, you can eat well at a much better cost.

Another way to help your pocket change add up, is to get it out of your pocket. At the end of the day, empty your pockets, wallets, car cup holder etc. of your loose change, and put it in a jar. When it’s full, put it in a savings account rather then spending it on little things through the day that you don’t really need. You’d be suprised how fast it can add up! This process won’t make you rich, but it’s a wonderful way to pay for something you really need or love with money that might have otherwise slipped through your fingers.
